Beer column: Let me introduce you to a raspberry wheat ale called Framboozle

As the weather continues to improve and the days get longer, the desire for a lighter fruit beer increases.

With so many innovative breweries around British Columbia, there are no shortage of options to choose from, and many beer drinkers have their favourites that return year after year.

But the subject of this week’s column is a brand new beer that might just become a staple of your spring and summer drinking habits for years to come.

It’s the Framboozle Raspberry Wheat Ale from Hoyne Brewing Company in Victoria.

The brewery calls its newest creation “bright and refreshing.”

It’s a crisp, easy-drinking beer that is quite sessionable at just 4% ABV (alcohol by volume).

“Reminiscent of our favourite summer fruit, it features a pleasant acidity and a clean, dry and effervescent finish,” a description from Hoyne explains.

Pale and wheat malts are utilized in the brewing process for Framboozle and its conditioned on fresh red raspberries.

“It’s a beautifully balanced showcase of malt and fruit,” the brewery notes.

Judging by the comments on social media, the brewery has potentially created a classic with this one.

“Another hit! Tried it today and (it) is delicious,” wrote one fan.

The best part of this week’s beer column is that you shouldn’t have any issues tracking down Framboozle.

It’s available in six-packs at 65 BC Liquor Stores across the province for a manageable price of $13.79 plus tax and deposit fees.

Happy Framboozling!
