Most beer drinkers have seasonal releases that they look forward to every year.
The Dry Hopped Czech Pilsner from Old Yale Brewing is only a couple of weeks old, but it has all the makings of being that beer for some.
The Fraser Valley brewery says the new limited release is flying off the shelves at both of its locations and supply is already dwindling at liquor stores.
If you want to be one of the first in BC to try this exciting new release, you’ll have to act quickly or likely wait until next year.
“Our pilsner is a nod to Czech classics, brewed with care to be crisp, clean and refreshing,” says the brewery about its first release of 2025.
“The slow fermentation and cold conditioning bring out the best in the mild herbal notes of Saaz hops, with just enough bitterness to keep things balanced.”
Along with the Saaz hops, the Dry Hopped Czech Pilsner also includes Magnum hops and the brewing process utilizes both pilsner and Vienna malts.
According to internet beer sources much more knowledgeable than myself, Vienna malts are typically used in lagers but can provide a pilsner with a rich, malty and toasty flavour profile.
“This pilsner is proof that sometimes simple is best – a well-crafted beer that’s classic for a reason,” the brewery boasts.
The Dry Hopped Czech Pilsner comes in at a standard 5% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 30 IBUs (international bitterness units).
Although this is a brand new creation from Old Yale, the early response from beer drinkers certainly suggests that it will be back on the production line soon.
