6 local Okanagan ice cream shops to cool your Sunday

Today the Okanagan is experiencing a blue sky and a rise in temperatures, recorded at a bright and hot 29C in Kelowna and 31C in Penticton.

Oh, and it's National Ice Cream Day, so why not cool yourself down in the Okanagan and treat yourself to a sundae this Sunday?

Here are a number of local ice cream shops that you can attend today to celebrate National Ice Cream Day and scoop up a taste of summer.

This year, in Best of Kelowna, three ice cream shops topped the list of go-to creameries in the area.

Earning the top podium position in this year's Best of Kelowna, the fairly new Parlour's Ice Cream offers a locally-sourced menu with a list of flavours that will have you back in line for another scoop within the hour.

Not to mention, Parlour is located right by the Okanagan Lake, so you won't have to walk far from the beach to pick up a cone.

  • Moo-lix Ice Cream

Known to attract hungry wanderers to their door with the smell of freshly baked waffle cones wafting into the street, Moo-lix knows how to satisfy a sweet tooth.

The ice cream shop has been a trademark of Bernard Avenue for years, and for good reason.

Operating as both a fruit market and an ice cream shop, this delectable dual-working establishment can bring a cold ice cream cone beside your favourite Okanagan fruits.

Located on the west side of the William R. Bennett bridge, Paynter's is the hot spot for a cold treat in Westbank.

In the Best of Penticton competition, there were three local ice cream shops that stood out, as voted by Pentictonites.

Tickleberry's may just be the Penticton hallmark of ice cream and you'll know why when you get a taste.

Of their several locations, you can find one right on the beach of Skaha Lake.

  • Ogo's Ice Cream Inc.

A solid source of ice cream for nearly 15 years, Ogo's will feed the ice cream monster residing in your belly.

You can find them tucked into Main Street with an assortment of colourful, and flavourful, waffle cones to greet you.

Boasting 48 hard ice cream flavours beside a selection of milkshakes and "Screamers," it ought to fill that inherent need for ice cream on a hot day.

Facing onto the edge of Okanagan Lake, you'll have the chance to chill out in more ways than one.

If ice cream isn't what you're looking for, maybe its time to try some of the artisanal gelato sources in Kelowna, including Best of Kelowna 2019 Gold winner, QB Gelato, or last summer's Bernard Avenue addition, Amore Mio.

Happy Sunday!
