Troy ‘Datsik’ Beetles has resurfaced online 18 months after stepping away from the spotlight due to sexual assault allegations.
The Kelowna-born DJ/producer addressed his 1.2-million Facebook fans in a video discussing the flurry of allegations that derailed his career, which included canceling a world tour and being ousted as CEO of his self-made label Firepower Records.

In the seven-minute video, Beetles reports going through therapy to help deal with anxiety and depression before blaming years of touring for exacerbating his conditions.
“Only by first understanding a problem are you truly able to fix it, so I’ve been using this past year and a half to do some major soul searching, and to figure out how I can better myself, and make smarter lifestyle choices moving forward,” said Beetles.
“I apologize for my poor behavior and the reckless lifestyle that had a detrimental effect on my relationships.
It is a lifestyle that I am no longer practicing and one that I have worked hard to overcome.”
In March of 2018, Beetles was confronted with a series of online allegations that included several instances of sexual activity with intoxicated female fans on his tour bus.

Many members of the electronic dance music (EDM) community have been quick to criticize Tuesday's video, suggesting Beetles stopped well short of actually addressing the serious allegations.
just watching datsik's non-apology, in which he spares not a single word to address his victims or acknowledge anyone but himself.

Anyone else see Datsik press release? blames it on depression and anxiety but doesn't even address what really happened. This is not what dance music is about.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, no charges have been brought against Beetles.
