Even in the age of technology, it seems as though youth and teens are still turning to the library for books.
In 2018, 15,164 teens participated in free library programs which was up from the previous year with 14,872. Library cardholders under the age of 19 borrowed 4,253 items each week and logged 1,524 computer session.
Last year, the library offered over 700 youth programs, including new offerings such as a Kids Variety Show, a Stuffy Sleepover, Adulting 101, the Teen Art Showcase and STEAM Saturdays.
All the statistics can be found in the library’s annual Youth Services Report.
In order to encourage the rise of these numbers, the library will be celebrating Family Literacy Day on Saturday with Todd Parrpalooza. The event will feature stories by author Todd Parr, activity stations, face-painting, and more!
