For the first time since the start of the pandemic, BC has seen more than 70 daily cases of COVID-19 for three days straight.
In a written statement on Friday, health officials reported a continued upward trajectory with 629 active cases now in the province.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, BC saw 85, 78 and 84 cases respectively.
Of Friday's new cases, 48 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 34 were in the Fraser Health region and two were in the Interior Health region.
There were no new deaths Friday, leaving B.C.’s death toll at 196.
A total of 2,026 people are in self-isolation due to close contact with confirmed cases.
The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital climbed by three to 12, while four people remained in critical care.
Several bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the Vancouver Coastal Health region have shut down following transmission events, some due to public health orders and others closing voluntarily.
In total, BC has now reported 4,358 cases of coronavirus, 3,533 of which have recovered.
