Just 1 new case of COVID-19 recorded in the Interior Health region

Health officials are reporting that COVID-19 case numbers continue to remain low in the Interior Health region.

Just one new case was recorded in through the region's more than 760,000 residents on Friday.

Meanwhile, 48 were identified in the Vancouver Coastal Health region and 34 in the Fraser Health region.

Interior Health now has 13 active cases, however, officials will not report where exactly the infected people live.

There are now 165 cases linked to the Canada Day outbreak in Kelowna, with eight of remaining active.

On Thursday, a second outbreak of COVID-19 was declared at the Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver.

Three staff members tested positive for the virus, but there's been no additional cases linked to the facility as of Friday afternoon.

Officials don't believe any community transmission from the cases has occurred, as he infections are believed to be linked to an off-site two-day training session.
