BC reports just 4 new cases as a result of 2 outbreaks at Lower Mainland companies

BC announced just four new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths on Tuesday afternoon.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported that the new cases are the result of two separate community outbreaks at Maersk Distribution in Delta and New World Technologies in Abbotsford.

Currently, there are 207 active cases of the virus in BC, 31 of which are currently hospitalized, with eight in critical care.

Henry also announced that the outbreak at Abbotsford Regional Hospital has been declared over.

There remain eight active outbreaks across BC, all at long-term care homes.

While the provincial ban on gatherings of more than 50 people remains in place, students have slowly started to return to school.

When asked on Tuesday, Henry confirmed a hybrid attendance model will likely continue when kids return to school in the fall.

Currently, schools accomodating kindergarten to Grade 5 students are limited to 50% capacity, with Grade 6 to Grade 12 schools are only permitted to have 20% of students in classrooms.

The remained of classes are done via online education.
