Snowmobile accident claims the life of Okanagan man

An Armstrong man was killed while snowmobiling in the Monashee Mountains earlier this month, police have confirmed.

According to the RCMP, they were advised by the Emergency Rescue Coordination Centre about an emergency beacon activation in the Lumby area around 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 3.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue was activated and responded to the location to assist with extricating an injured snowmobiler in the Tsuius Mountain area of the Monashees,” said Cst. Chris Terleski.

“The 46-year old Armstrong man was transported to Queen Victoria Hospital (Revelstoke) where he was pronounced deceased.”

No criminality is suspected in the man’s death and the BC Coroners Service continues to conduct an independent investigation to determine how the man died.

At this time, neither the BC Coroners Service or RCMP are releasing any more information.
