One of British Columbia’s most popular ski resorts is changing ownership.
SilverStar Mountain Resort has been acquired by POWDR, a ski resort operator and adventure lifestyle company based out of Utah.
POWDR is a “proudly independent” company focused on delivering quality local experiences.
The company is acquiring Star Ski Resort Ltd. and Silver Star Holidays Ltd., which operate the resort.
Meanwhile, previous owner, Jane Cann, will retain Schumann Resorts Ltd, which holds 30-acres of development land on the mountain.
“SilverStar is a world-class destination that fits well with who POWDR is, what our properties are—community favorites—and our commitment to protecting and enhancing the authentic year-round adventure experience for generations to come,” says Justin Sibley, POWDR co-president.
“The resort team is impressive and they have an incredibly strong relationship with the community, which we hope to build upon. We are pleased to continue Jane and SilverStar’s more than six decades of fun, legacy and vision.”
POWDR already owns ski resorts in California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Vermont, along with the experimental action sports company Woodward and plenty more.
With this acquisition, there will be no changes to SilverStar’s 2019-20 season passes, operations or reciprocal agreements with other resorts.
Cann said she was thrilled to pass the torch to such a competent and qualified operator who she believes shares the same mission and beliefs for the resort that she does.
POWDR will assume operations of SilverStar effective immediately.
