The RCMP say a woman who went missing in the BC Interior earlier this year may have been the victim of foul play.
Jennifer Provencal was last seen in the small community of Forest Grove, which is near 100 Mile House, on Feb. 5.
She was reported missing on April 21. The police renewed their plea for information in early June.
In an update on Monday, the RCMP said the North District Major Crime Unit is now leading the investigation into her disappearance, which is now considered suspicious.
Provencal’s sister, Johanne Provencal, has issued a video plea in hopes it could prompt new tips that could lead to answers for the family.
“I miss the long calls that I would have with Jennifer on the phone and hearing the love that she had for her sons, she loved being a mom,” Johanne said.
“With the circumstances of her going missing, I'm sad to say that I don't think Jennifer is alive. So now I am thinking about finding her remains. I'm asking for help to do that so that the people who loved her can honour her life and celebrate her.”
The RCMP believe that there are people with “critical” information about the case that have not yet spoken to investigators.
Both the RCMP and Johanne are urging anyone with information to come forward in order to further the investigation.
“While her disappearance is suspicious, we have not given up hope in locating her and finding answers for her loved ones,” said Cpl. David Bandurak with NDMCU.
“If you have information that could help, even if it seems minor, please contact police.”
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jennifer Provencal is asked to contact 100 Mile House RCMP at (250) 395-2456 and refer to file 2025-1254.
“If there's anything that you think of that can be of help in finding out where she is, or where her remains are, please reach out,” Johanne said.
“I just want one more day with my sister, even if that means my sister's remains and bringing together the people who loved her one last time.”
