(UPDATE: June 20 @ 5:05 am): BC Search and Rescue has confirmed that Toby Salin has been found dead.
The organizations said it was announcing the sad news "with a very heavy heart."
It added: "Toby will be remembered for his strong commitment to SAR, his incredible work ethic and dry sense of humour. He will be missed by many.
"Toby came home to rest in the arms of those who he chose as friends and colleagues.
"May he rest in peace. Our deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Toby."
(Original story: June 19 @ 4 pm): Search and Rescue crews along with members of the RCMP are searching for one of their own near Pemberton.
According to police, Toby Salin was last seen in Pemberton around 9:16 am on Thursday. Salin, who is a part of the Whistler Search and Rescue team, has never disappeared before.
His 2021 black Chevrolet crew cab was found off West Lillooet Lake Road near the In-Shuck-ch Forest Service Road.
A complete search of the area with Pemberton Search and Rescue, RCMP Air Services, Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, Pemberton RCMP, Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police, local residents, and RCMP Integrated Police Dog Services was completed with no sign of Salin.
Salin is described as a 5'9," 59-year-old Caucasian man who weighs 200 pounds with blonde, short hair and blue eyes.
