Police arrest 5 people after raiding Merritt home

Five people have been arrested in Merritt.

The RCMP said the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team was called in to raid a home on Bann Street yesterday.

Earlier in the day, police had received information from multiple sources about a local couple that had been involved in two assaults recently.

One of those assaults was said to have been committed with a gun.

Of the five people arrested, charges are being considered against three of them, police said.

“The subsequent search of the residence produced replica hand guns, a shotgun with a homemade silencer, a large amount of ammunition and an amount of suspected narcotics,” Mounties explained in a release.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the Merritt RCMP GIS at 250-378-4262. Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
