A report of a naked man near a lake in the BC Interior has led to the discovery of an apparent drowning.
Mounties in Lillooet were asked to check on an “unclothed man” late in the evening of Sept. 7, according to an RCMP bulletin.
They later found the man had been given a ride by a passing motorist. He told the driver he had been in a Dodge Ram that crashed into Carpenter Lake, with another occupant of the truck “still believed to be inside the vehicle.”
Mounties, medics and rescuers then “made extensive patrols for the vehicle late into the night,” according to police, but found no signs of the truck.
“The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended the following day and conducted a water dive in the area and located the vehicle submerged in the lake with the sole occupant inside deceased,” police added. “The family of the deceased were notified. The vehicle was recovered and towed out of the lake.”
Mounties said they are still investigating the incident.
