Home owners in Salmon Arm weren’t only failing to sell their homes, they were also losing expensive jewelry in the process thanks to one crafty couple.
That couple has now been arrested after they posed as potential homebuyers at several showings of real estate in Salmon Arm and allegedly stole jewelry and money
RCMP received seven different complaints from homeowners between Sept. 10 and Oct. 11 reporting these thefts.
The investigation revealed that the man and woman would attend the residences that ranged in value from $635,000 and $1,200,000.
A large amount of both men’s and women’s jewelry was stolen during those showings, only some of which has been recovered so far.
“Much of the jewellery has significant sentimental value with estimated losses exceeding the tens of thousands in value,” said Staff Sgt. Scott West.
“The male and female suspect of no fixed address have since been located, arrested and released to attend Salmon Arm Provincial Court in the new year.”
The couple is facing a number of charges, including Theft Under $5,000, Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property.
