Netflix text scam making the rounds

A new scam is making the rounds and it’s targetting Netflix users.

Whether you’re a Netflix user or not, many are receiving a text from a random number that claims to be a streaming service.

In an apologetic tone, it basically tells you that there’s issues with your Netflix payment and tries to get you to click a link.

“Dear valued Netflix user,” it begins. “Sorry for the interruption, but we are having trouble authorizing your payment method.”

If you receive a text like this, do not click the link and Netflix even suggests forwarding it to [email protected] so they can look into it.

The streaming service will not reach out through text, but will email if there are legitimate problems with your account and it’ll come from a credible email address.

Netflix also advises the following:

Never enter your login or financial details after following a link in an email or text message.
Never click on any links or open any attachments in an email or text message you received unexpectedly, regardless of the source.
If you suspect an email or text message is not from Netflix, do not reply to it.
