Canada has been treated to another sign that the new and final season of Game of Thrones is fast approaching.
On Tuesday, a Canadian couple stumbled across one of six hidden “Iron Thrones” in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.
The elaborate discovery was part of an HBO promotional campaign where fans given clues to discover the thrones placed everywhere from Sweden to Brazil and Canada.
Now, another slightly more ominous Game of Thrones symbol has appeared on the frozen shores of Newfoundland.
Brendon Gould of Port aux Choix said he stands over six feet tall but an ice wall, reminiscent of Game of Throne's 700 foot "The Wall", was more than three times his height in some places.
A lifelong resident of the small town on Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula, Gould said he’d never seen anything like it before.
“You can’t really get a feel for it unless you’re down next to it,” said Gould, adding it reminded him of “Game of Thrones.”
Brad Drummond of the Canadian Ice Service said the build-up is unusually large, although he said its size is unsurprising given the heavy winds that have battered the area this year.
“It’s definitely a large wall, one of the larger ones I’ve seen,” Drummond said.
