After a black man named George Floyd died after being pinned by a police officer, protests have broken out in Minneapolis. The FBI and law enforcement authorities are investigating for possible civil rights violations after video emerged of an officer kneeling on the man’s neck. Following Floyd's death, the four officers involved in the incident were terminated, and violent clashes broke out between demonstrators and the police after people took to the streets to protest on Tuesday.

As India tries to tackle their rising COVID-19 case load, parts of the country have been hit with a strong heatwave, which is likely to last until the weekend. The severe heat comes as the region struggles with rising COVID-19 infections and swarms of locusts that are ravaging crops. Churu in the state of Rajasthan recorded a temperature of 50°C, India's highest temperature reading.

India and China appear to be in a standoff after recent media reports emerged indicating movement of troops in the Ladakh region, where the two countries share a border. China is expanding its high-altitude airbase near Ladakh, the site of some recent border skirmishes with India, according to some satellite images. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute had also released satellite images of the situation unfolding around the Line of Actual Control as tensions escalated following road construction in the area.

The York Regional Police announced yesterday that 20 individuals were arrested following an investigation into the GTA towing industry. The individuals were being charged with offences related to conspiracy to commit murder, violence, property damage, fraud and drug trafficking. One person was charged with first-degree murder.
