Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre has said he's willing to work with Mark Carney's government in Parliament to bring an end to the trade war with the US, but insisted he's still going to push the Liberals to release a spring budget. Poilievre, who is no longer an MP, also accused the PM of adopting an "elbows down" approach to the US by mostly ditching his much-publicized counter-tariffs.

An academic at the University of Ottawa has said the Liberals' promise to be tough on crime reminds him of a similar pledge from US President Bill Clinton. The Democrat, like Mark Carney, went ahead with stricter punishments for criminals, but Justin Piché said: "I don't necessarily think it's because he believed in them. I think it was because he didn't want to get outflanked on the right on these issues and lose power and the ability to govern more broadly." The Grits have pledged to introduce tougher bail conditions as well as new criminal offences.

As Canada races towards expanding its natural resources sector, some property owners in Nova Scotia have been left unhappy after the province selected their land for possible uranium exploration. Ward Blatch, one of those landowners, said it's "quite shocking," but in Nova Scotia, land ownership does not include mineral rights, which are the possession of the Crown.
