1. Canada Infrastructure Bank to fall well short of $35B target: PBO

The Canada Infrastructure Bank, which is at the centre of the BC Ferries controversy, is projected to fall $20 billion short of its investment targets, according to the Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer. The Crown corporation is on track to hand out only $14.9 billion by 2027-28, considerably lower than its $35 billion aim.


2. NDP to select new leader by March 29, entry fee of $100K

The NDP is expected to choose its next leader by March 29, 2026, the party has announced. The race to succeed Jagmeet Singh will begin in September, with an entry fee of $100,000 for candidates.


3. Video shows bloodied and weeping police officer attacked at UK airport

A disturbing video showing a bloodied female police officer has been released as part of a trial in the UK. The video shows Constable Lydia Ward, described as 5 ft 2 in and 112 lbs, weeping in panic after being punched by a man at Manchester Airport. The incident, which occurred in July of last year, initially led to protests amid claims of police brutality.


4. David Suzuki changing approach after saying 'it's too late' to prevent climate change

Climate change activist David Suzuki has said "it's too late" to prevent the "immense" consequences of a warming Earth. He said he now plans to focus on community action rather than pushing for political and economic change.


5. Narcos using unmanned submarines to ship drugs, Colombian navy discovers

There's a new tool being used by drug smugglers – an "autonomous semisubmersible." The Colombian navy said it seized the unmanned submarine, which is capable of carrying 1.5 tons of cocaine, in the Caribbean sea off the country's coast.
