1. 2 nuns steal $500,000 from Catholic school to gamble in Las Vegas
Put this one in the category of “never thought it would happen.” A pair of nuns embezzled at least $500,000 USD from St. James Catholic School in California, where they both worked. They then allegedly took that money and spent it on a trip to Vegas where they gambled at a number of casinos.

2. A famously strong kangaroo has passed away
Roger the kangaroo became an online sensation due his muscular physique. Over the weekend, he passed away at 12-years-old and the tributes have been pouring in online. The kickboxing kangaroo died of natural causes at his sanctuary in Perth.

3. Atlanta United win their first MLS Cup
The Major League Soccer ended over the weekend with the championship game between the Portland Timbers and Atlanta United. In just their second season, Atlanta came out with a 2-0 win to claim their first ever MLS Cup. Josef Martinez had a goal and an assist in the championship game to win MVP honours.

4. Former police officer found guilty of 78 murders in Russia
An ex-policeman in Russia has been found guilty of 56 more murders, bringing his total to 78 killed. Mikhail Popkov was already serving a life sentence for the murder of 22 women, but has now been convicted of 56 more murders. He targeted people that he thought were “drunk” or living in an “immoral” way.

5. There’s a new world record for the largest tuba ensemble
It’s one of those records you never know existed until now. An impressive total of 835 tuba players got together to play in Kansas City, smashing the world record for the largest tuba ensemble. The previous world record for this slightly strange feat was 504.
