1. Industrial relations board declares Air Canada flight attendants' strike illegal

The Canada Industrial Relations Board has declared the strike by Air Canada's 10,000 flight attendants illegal and ordered them back to work, according to the airline. Air Canada said it has ordered the Canadian Union of Public Employees to tell its members to end the strike, which has grounded flights across the country.


2. Pierre Poilievre to learn his political fate today

Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre will learn whether he's on his way back to Parliament today as voters head to the polls in the Battle River—Crowfoot by-election. More than 200 candidates are running in the riding, with most of them part of a protest movement.


3. Ford to push Carney to lower taxes in meeting today

Mark Carney and Doug Ford are meeting in Ottawa today, with the US trade war high on the agenda. The prime minister and Ontario premier also plan to discuss the auto sector, while Ford said he wants to push Carney to lower taxes.


4. 'Skibidi' and 'tradwife' added to Cambridge Dictionary

Various internet slang terms have been added to the Cambridge Dictionary as part of this year's intake of 6,000 words. Among those added were "skibidi" – a gibberish term – and "tradwife," an abbreviation of "traditional wife," i.e. a woman who cares for children and cooks meals.


5. 'Recovering American' discusses difficulties of moving to Canada

The CBC has interviewed some Americans who have moved to Canada because of the election of Donald Trump. The interviewees – including one who brands himself a "recovering American" – highlight the difficulties of getting into Canada, with one immigration lawyer emphasizing: "It's not the Vietnam War anymore, and we no longer welcome draft dodgers."
