Warning issued about nail gun and stapler after customer injured

A firm’s nail gun and stapler have both been recalled in Canada.

Health Canada said in a public bulletin that the tools, made by Ryobi, pose a laceration hazard.

Anyone in possession of the products is urged to stop using them and get in touch with TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. to receive a replacement.

The affected items are the Y18GB Airwave 18-Gauge Nailer and Ryobi Y18GBS Airwave 2-in-1 Nailer/Stapler.

“The work piece contact element can bind in a compressed position allowing the nail to be discharged by activating the trigger alone rather than the intended two step actuation process, posing a potential laceration hazard,” Health Canada’s bulletin explains.

As of May 3, there has been one reported incident of an injury associated with the products.

Health Canada said the company reported that it sold about 8,910 of the nail guns and 4,067 of the nail gun/stapler.

It was on sale between November 2021 and March 2024.
