Big White opens early today with lift tickets, rentals and lessons all 50% off

(Original story: Nov. 21 at 3 pm): We’re just hours away from the first day of the 2024-25 ski season at Big White.

Thanks to some recent cooperation from Mother Nature and a 104-centimetre alpine snow base, the mountain will open a week early this year.

For those anxious to gear up and hit the slopes, it’s very welcomed news after last year’s season was delayed two weeks due to a lack of snow.

To kick off the new season, Lara’s Gondola will be running from 7:30 am until 5 pm and both the Plaza Chair and Ridge Rocket Express will be spinning between 8:45 am and 3:30 pm.

Obviously the mountain will not be fully open, so Big White is offering up 50% discounts on lift tickets, rentals and group lessons until the ski resort's originally-scheduled opening date of Nov. 28.

“More lifts and terrain will open as soon as conditions allow,” explains a social media post from Big White Ski Resort today. “Stay tuned for updates.”

There will be a jovial atmosphere on the hill over the next few days as skiers and snowboarders shake off the rust and enjoy the festivities that come with opening weekend.

That includes DJ Switchback playing tunes at the Ridge Rocket base from noon until 2 pm on Saturday.

Big White is also encouraging people to keep an eye out for miniature Loose Moose hidden along the trails while they're out enjoying themselves on the hill.

Anyone who finds a miniature Loose Moose can bring it back to DJ Switchback to score some fantastic prizes.
