Fire destroys part of iconic Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco

A fire that started on Saturday morning has destroyed part of the famed Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.

The four-alarm fire at Pier 45 was extinguished with only one minor injury reported.

According to reports, the fire consumed a warehouse on the wharf, and was threatening some WWII era ships docked nearby.

The Port of San Francisco thanked firefighters for their efforts and for saving the SS Jeremiah O’Brien.

“We are grateful to the brave firefighters and emergency response teams for containing the fire, protecting our waterfront, saving the SS Jeremiah O’Brien.”

“We are grateful to SFFD swift action and all city partners who have come together at this time to support the recovery of Pier 45 and the Fisherman’s Wharf Community.”

San Francisco Fire units will remain at the site of the Pier 45 Fire throughout the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Crews have started inspections of all structures at the pier.
