Lumby, British Columbia is a place of natural beauty, with lush greenery and rolling hills that stretch as far as the eye can see. Nestled amongst this stunning scenery are hidden lakes and of course, cozy cabins that offer a serene retreat for anyone seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
When I mentioned on my Instagram stories that we were headed here, I had an outpouring of messages from locals who have made this their yearly family escape, often meeting up with the same people year after year, creating core memories with their kids over sports games, fishing, family meals and S’mores around the campfire. This truly confirmed for me what a special place this is.
You will notice the rich, earthy aroma of the surrounding forest as you pull into the Cozy Cabins property. The scent of pine needles and cedar logs fills the air, creating a sense of calm and comfort. Resting, healing and connecting to nature is the purpose of a stay at this family-friendly oasis.
The cabins themselves are constructed of sturdy logs, which blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The rough-hewn wood gives the cabins a rustic charm, while the intricate carvings and modern details add a touch of elegance.
Step inside, and you'll find yourself in a warm and inviting space. The interior of each cabin is decorated with soft, earthy tones that echo the natural beauty outside. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable, with plush armchairs and couches that invite you to curl up with a good book or simply relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings. The floors are covered in soft, plush carpets that feel like a luxurious treat for your feet.
In the bedrooms, you'll find fluffy down comforters and soft, high-quality linens that promise a restful night's sleep. The windows in each room offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, and the gentle sounds of nature lull you into a peaceful slumber. You might even catch a glimpse of some stunning wildlife, like the snowshoe hare we watched from our bedroom window.
Outside, you can explore the surrounding wilderness. Take a leisurely hike through the forest, breathing in the fresh air or, if you're feeling adventurous, head out on a thrilling ATV ride or go fishing in one of the nearby streams.
The lakeside sauna and wood-fired hot tub is an outdoor spa experience that cannot be missed. From the window in the sauna, we enjoyed watching freshwater otters slip beneath the surface of the lake and poke their heads out again.
Finding a local coffee shop is always on our agenda. This time we stumbled on the family-owned and operated Jitter Beans. This is obviously a well-visited establishment by locals as everyone seemed to greet everyone knowingly. The specialty coffees and homemade treats were exceptional. Don’t leave without sampling the lemon loaf!
With coffee in hand, stroll the streets of Lumby to find the historic murals depicting Lumby as it would have looked in 1914.
At night, you can light a fire in the wood-burning stove and settle in for a cozy evening. The crackling flames cast a warm glow over the cabin, creating a comforting ambiance that invites you to relax and unwind. Pour yourself a glass of wine, grab a good book, and let the tranquillity of sleeping in the forest wash over you.
The natural beauty of Lumby and the warm, inviting atmosphere of the cabins combine to create a truly unforgettable retreat. So pack your bags, leave your worries behind, and come immerse yourself in the peaceful serenity of Cozy Cabins.
