Samsung electric ranges recalled due to fire hazard, lack of safety lock

Numerous models of the Samsung Slide-In Electric Ranges are being recalled after issues with the front-mounted knobs accidentally being turned on.

In a recall notice, it was said that anyone who owns a range with knob locks or covers should ensure that children and pets are kept away, to not leave objects on the range when not in use, and to check that the knobs are off before leaving home or going to sleep.

Anyone with a recalled stove should contact Samsung Canada for a free set of knob locks or covers to install.

A total of 57 incidents and seven injuries have been linked to the electric ranges in Canada.

About 326,250 units of the affected products were sold in the country from 2013 to August 2024.

Samsung noted that some ranges are Wi-Fi enabled and will alert you on your smartphone when the burner is turned on.

For more information, consumers can contact Samsung Canada at 1-833-775-0120 from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. ET, Monday through Sunday or visit the recall portal on the company website.
