Man dies at Calgary Airport while being removed from the country by CBSA officers

A “foreign national” is dead after an incident at the Calgary International Airport.

The incident took place on Tuesday as Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers attempted to remove the man from the country.

“On Aug. 7, 2018, while attempting to remove a foreign national from Canada, an altercation took place between the individual and the two CBSA officers on board a flight from Calgary prior to its departure,” said Nina Patel, CBSA acting regional director general.

“The individual went into medical distress and was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The CBSA has handed the case over to the Calgary Police and it’s currently under investigation.
