John Carpay, a representative of the Justice Centre of Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), sat down with KelownaNow video host Jim Csek for another livestream focused on recent findings highlighted by the JCCF.
This week, the duo discussed a new report from the JCCF that alleges COVID-19 policy failures and rising unexplained deaths.
Drawing on Statistics Canada data, Carpay emphasized alarming trends in mortality rates following widespread COVID-19 vaccinations and lockdowns.
"The one that blew me away the most was that according to Statistics Canada COVID levels, the number of COVID deaths went up after 80% of Canadians got injected with COVID vaccine," Carpay said, noting deaths rose from 16,000 in 2020 to 20,000 in 2022 despite high vaccination rates.
Carpay pointed out that overall deaths in Canada hit a record high of 337,000 in 2022, a 9% increase over two years.
Even more striking, he said, were rises among younger demographics.
"Amongst Canadians under the age of 45... death rates are up 36% more than a third," he explained, adding that only 1% of these were COVID-related, with surges in drug overdoses, alcohol-induced deaths, and child mortality.
Carpay stressed these increases occurred after vaccine mandates and lockdowns, raising questions about correlation and potential causation.
Criticizing government approaches, Carpay highlighted a "glaring double standard" in death classifications.
He described how the World Health Organization's 2020 protocol broadly categorized COVID deaths, even if assumed or possible, while vaccine-related deaths required rigorous proof.
"You've got this very broad cast, the net wide approach for classifying COVID deaths and classifying vaccine deaths is... a very uphill climb," he said.
Carpay lamented the lack of accountability in Canada compared to the US, where some states are scrutinizing pandemic responses. He said governments did not conduct proper cost-benefit analyses on lockdowns, calling them an untested "experiment" without humility.
"The government failed Canadians by violating the Constitution, by not doing a proper cost benefit analysis," he stated, urging a scientific review of positive and negative impacts.
The report, available on the Justice Centre's website, aims to spark public discussion, he said.
"The goal is to generate and stimulate public discussion... The takeaway from the report is that after lockdowns and vaccine mandates were imposed, you see higher deaths.”
He encouraged readers to examine the executive summary and Stats Canada data to form their own views.
