IKEA has issued a warning about one of its kitchen tools.
The Swedish giant’s garlic press, “VÄRDEFULL,” could pose a danger to users.
In a recall notice published this week, Health Canada explained that “small metal pieces” might detach when using the press.
They could then be consumed and cause harm.
As a consequence, the product has been recalled.
Health Canada said anyone in possession of the product should “immediately stop using” it and take it back to IKEA for a refund.
As of June 9, according to Health Canada, IKEA has not received any reports of incidents involving the press in Canada.
Around the world, however, there have been three reports of incidents involving “minor injuries,” including scratches to the hand.
The item was sold between April 2024 and May 2025.
Nearly 11,000 were sold in Canada throughout that period.
