Humboldt has been nominated for Kraft Hockeyville 2019

With everything that Humboldt, Sask. has been through over the last 10 months, it’s hard to think of a better pick for Kraft Hockeyville 2019.

The town has been nominated for the annual competition, which sees the winning community take home $250,000 for arena and other upgrades.

The nomination was made by the Town of Humboldt and the Elgar Petersen Arena, home of the SJHL Broncos.

Now, it’s up to the Humboldt community to submit stories about why the town should be named Hockeyville and then it’s mostly left in the hands of a panel of judges.

The judges will evaluate the story submissions, which makes up 80% of the decision, while the final 20% is based on community rally activity.

Rally points are accumulated in a number of ways, but those outside of Humboldt can help in that regard by sharing the community page on Twitter and reacting to the town’s content gallery.

This is Humboldt’s second kick at the can in the Hockeyville competition, as the town made it to the top five in 2009.

People can submit stories and support a nomination with rally points until Feb. 10, 2019.

The top four finalists will be selected on March 16, 2019 before the winner is crowned on March, 30, 2019.
