A new and colourful loonie is in circulation across Canada, thanks to the Royal Canadian Mint.
The commemorative $1 coin was created to celebrate Canadian innovation, and highlight who Mint depicts as a ‘significant contributor to our modern world.’
Alexander Graham Bell, better known for his invention of the telephone, will be appearing on the new coin for the 175th anniversary of his birthday.
While Bell was born in Scotland, he travelled to Brantford, Ontario in the 1870s with his family to set up a workshop for his many inventions.
Never stop collecting inspiration.

The Silver Dart, the aircraft that achieved the first controlled, powered flight in Canada and the record-setting HD-4 hydrofoil; both of which made history on Bras d’Or Lake, represented by the waves that are highlighted in blue on the colourized coin.
According to Mint, two million coloured and one million uncoloured Bell 175 $1 commemorative coins will be entering circulation.
