After back and forth talks between the city, state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and many other partners; the Recording Academy and CBS have decided to postpone the 2022 Grammy awards due to growing concerns revolving COVID-19.
The music awards show, or officially known as the 64th Grammy Awards, would have highlighted a number of musical artists from 86 different categories on Jan. 31.
Music or recordings released between Sept. 1, 2020 to Sept. 20, 2021 were set to be recognized in this year's show.
Nominees included some of today's biggest artists such as Kayne West, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.

The Recording Academy and CBS released this joining statement following the postponement: “The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority.”
“Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”
‘The Daily Show’ host Trevor Noah was set to host the awards show for his second year in a row but there's no word yet on when new dates will be announced.
