A Southern BC man was very lucky this week when dealing with a bear in Rossland.
In a video posted to Instagram by "JdTheGeneral" on Friday, a grizzly bear can be seen "bluff charging" the user.
The incident reportedly occurred on 4th Avenue near the railway.
Cheyanna Shypitka, a coordinator for Rossland-Trail WildSafe BC, commented on the incident. She explained that leaving attractants like garbage out overnight could lead to more incidents like this one.
"With bears ramping up their calorie intake in preparation for winter, we are urging all local folks to be extremely vigilant about attractants in their yards and to take all precautions so we all remain safe," wrote Shypitka.
She also urged residents to carry bear spray if they knew how to use it.
"Carry bear spray and know how to use it, lock doors to homes, sheds and cars at all times, remove bird feeders and pick all fruit from trees. Keep garbage and compost secure and never put trash out early on garbage day."
