Meet Holly Ostler! She is new to Penticton and has only lived here for three weeks!
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My dog, Kea.
What is your favourite local store in Penticton and why?
Still exploring all that's here, but so far Ad Hoc
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Greece, I've almost made it there a couple of times, I'll get there eventually!
What is your favourite activity in Penticton?
So far it's been walking our dog, Kea, on the KVR trail.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
It happens on the daily, I'm quite silly.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I've had some highs and some lows in life, but the most inspiring thing in my life has always been my family and soul mate. They inspire me to push my creativity further, realize my self-worth, and that the smart decision isn't always the right one. Their support is forever there with me.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I have a lot of fave memories! I'm the youngest of three girls, so many involve my sisters dressing me up. My dad would let me dress him up sometimes when it was just the two of us, barrettes in his hair and everything. He was the best guy. He passed away almost seven years ago of cancer.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I haven't started to do this in Penticton yet but would like to learn more about what opportunities there are to do so here.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Let's all just help each other.
Where would you sneak away to in Penticton to spend some time alone?
Wouldn't quite be alone, but those dog walk I mentioned, are pretty head clearing.
Where would you like to see positive change in Penticton and why?
I haven't experienced enough yet to know what change is necessary. I know there is an upcoming election, but with just moving here, I'm not quite educated enough on all the candidates for the various positions. I've been reading up a bit to learn more.
What do you think makes Penticton great?
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Be invited to a Fashion Week.
2. Lie on the floor completely covered in puppies.
3. Visit all the Fashion capitals of the world, I only have a few to go!
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
my birthday is Christmas Day, that's why my name is Holly!
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
I'm on Instagram far too often @hollyelizabetho, and check my email regularly.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Elizabeth o. vintage.
Why did you get into/start this business?
I've always dreamed of having my own store, and with my career always has been in retail, I decided that this was a step closer to my dream.
What is the goal of your business?
I find pieces that have lived a beautiful life, and they get a chance to live another beautiful life with you.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Losing my dad has been my biggest struggle in life. It's something I think about every day, but with time it gets to be ok, never gone though.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
The only thing I would consider doing differently was going back to school after getting my college diploma, to get a bachelors degree in fashion.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Holy Moly! And making up songs to sing to my dog, Kea.
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
your perspective on life can be the things that changes it all for you, positivity is your friend. that and lists, lists are great.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I've been majorly girl crushing on this woman named Brittany Cobb, she runs a creative company in Dallas, Texas, @Fleastyle. She just speaks my language and is doing all the things! I would want to ask her so many things, and learn what she knows to do something similar here.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It's supporting peoples dreams. They put their heart and soul into what they are sharing, and it's so worthy of our attention and support.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Aside from finally having my shop, I had been working toward a career goal for a long time of a certain job/job title and totally crushed that goal!
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My soul mate Andy, the reason we moved here!
My choice for the PentictonNow In Focus spotlight is:
I don't know anyone here yet, lol, so some cool girl with great style, I know there's a few of those walking around town.
Some general comments I would like to share are:
I'm so grateful for this chance to officially introduce myself to my new town! I'm looking forward to seeing how both my business and my life will grow here in beautiful Penticton. If anyone wants to collaborate, network, or just grab a chai latte, I'm your girl!
In Focus is our gift to the community. A way for us to help show our recognition of the people, businesses, and organizations that help make our city great. Thank you, Penticton!
