Dhunu lives in a remote village in Assam with her widowed mother and eldest brother. While helping her mother at a local event, Dhunu becomes mesmerized by a band which is performing there. With family struggling to put food on the table dreams of an electric guitar can seem like madness, but this is exactly what the young girl wants, and at 10-years-old, she is alive with a dazzling confidence in her ambitions. Shot in the filmmaker’s home village, this quiet film is visually textured and intimate, without the raucous musical numbers the title suggests, and paints an inspiring portrait of a girl finding her own place in a world made for boys and men.
