Over the last 17 years, her journey has taken her all over the world learning & performing. In 2013, Keisha opened popular dance company Boundless Belly Dance, with a mission of advocating for inclusivity within art & dance. Keisha is known for her enticing & engaged stage presence, as well as her informed teaching style. She is complimented for her ethics and is is passionate about providing education to her students, audience, & clients about social political issues & dynamics, history, cultural appropriation, diversity, and inclusion. Raqs Sharqi has a beautiful & rich cultural history, often misunderstood by the west. Join longtime local performer & dancer, Keisha, in a beautiful story of what we now know as Belly Dance, how we got here, what misconceptions we have, and how we can be proper allies to the wonderful art from it is. Following, Keisha will demonstrate a piece by performing Leylet Hob featuring iconic Penticton locations. Keisha will be doing a Zoom discussion and performance on Wednesday September 22 at 4:00pm.
