1969-12-31 13:00:00 1969-12-31 15:00:00 America/Vancouver Beginner Oil Painting for Seniors Join the Penticton Arts Council’s Youth helper Ben! We will be learning how to do the old masters technique taught to me by the artist Yvonne Reddick. This technique was developed in Europe and used by artists like Rembrandt. It is characterized by many layers of thin paint over a greyscale, it has largely been superseded by realist and impressionist styles that don't glaze but paint all in one layer with the desired colours. Glazes are somewhat transparent so the previous layers colors show through giving paintings done with glazing a different look from other methods. Cost: By donation Register: Call the office at 250-492-7997 (6 people max) Office Hours: Wednesday - Saturday from 11:30am to 5pm. All supplies provided. Due to COVID precautions, we are allowing 6 in the group, please bring a mask. If you don’t have a mask, we will have disposable masks available for a $2 donation.
