Get ready for a freezing cold week in the Okanagan

If you were a little cold on your way to school or work this morning, you’re not alone and you might want to get used to it.

Temperatures hit -18°C in Kelowna this morning and remain at -17°C as of 9 a.m., according to Environment Canada.

To make things even colder, the windchill had it feeling closer to -30°C before the sun came up.

The high for Monday is -5°C, but it looks like temperatures could fall well short of that mark despite the sun coming out to play.

Environment Canada is calling for highs of -5°C for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as well, but there should be some sun to enjoy on all three days.

Overnight is when it’ll really start to feel cold, as the projected low is -15°C on Monday, -16°C on Tuesday, -15°C on Wednesday and -11°C on Thursday.

It’ll jump up to a balmy -7°C on Friday night, basically t-shirt weather for that walk home from the bar.

The one positive of the next four days is that there shouldn’t be much, if any, precipitation to deal with.

However, the snow could come back next weekend with a chance of flurries expected for Friday through Sunday.
