4 BC breweries earn hardware at 2024 World Beer Cup

There’s no shortage of fantastic craft breweries and beers coming out of British Columbia.

A lot of those breweries were represented in Las Vegas this week at the 2024 World Beer Cup (WBC).

Four of them returned back to BC with hardware, beating out breweries from all around the world to be recognized for their craft.

In total, awards at the 2024 WBC were handed out to the best three beers in 110 categories, which were even subcategorized to cover 172 different beer styles.

At the end of it all, there were 329 winners from 20 countries who left Sin City with either gold, silver or bronze.

Two BC breweries were top of their class, including Victoria’s Phillips Brewing in the American-Style Sour Ale category thanks to their very popular Dinosour Stone Fruit.

Also coming home with gold was Whistler Brewing, thanks to their Whistler Winter Dunkel’s triumph in the Chocolate Beer category.

In the Historical Beer category, Kelowna’s Jackknife Brewing won silver for Hunting Lodge, their popular Nordic juniper lager.

And finally, Shaketown Brewing in North Vancouver won bronze in the American-Style Pilsner category for their Pre-Prohibition Pilsner.

While all four breweries are no strangers to awards and honours, the hardware they brought home from Las Vegas is more likely to find its way onto the wall than a box in storage.

The WBC, hosted by the Brewers Association, is the largest beer competition in the world. See the full list of winners here.
