21-year-old Kelowna man dies snowboarding at Big White

It was a tragic end to the weekend at Big White.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, RCMP received a request to assist BC Ambulance Service, who were on scene with a deceased male.

The Kelowna man is believed to have suffered a fatal head injury while snowboarding in the Black Forest area.

“It is believed that the 21-year-old Kelowna man, was snowboarding alone when he struck a tree along the trail,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“RCMP have since notified the man’s family of his tragic passing. We would like to extend our deepest condolences, to both his family and friends, for their sudden loss.”

The RCMP continue to support the BC Coroners Service in the investigation.

The identity of the deceased man is not being released at this time in an effort to give his family privacy.

Sunday's unfortunate incident at Big White wasn't the only death at a B.C. Interior ski hill over the weekend.

Michael David Foster, 24, of Alberta went missing at Revelstoke on Friday and was found deceased on Saturday.
